Thermochromatic ink labels provides the ideal solution to a heat sensitive problem.
Positive ID Labels were approached recently by a major laboratory operator; they were seeking a solution to meet an important process within the lab. The process involved the labelling and dating of Petri dishes followed by the application of a heat indicator strip to prove the petri dish had passed through an autoclave for sterilisation.
Having had the process explained to him, sales manager Mark Hurst used his knowledge to source the appropriate thermochromatic ink label to integrate into his solution: Using a robust 2 line hand labelling gun, Mark’s proposal was for the date and batch number to be printed using the hand labelling gun, on a pre-printed thermochromatic in label that would be blacked out in the autoclave.
This meant that at a glance, laboratory personnel could tell whether the item had been sterilised, allowing for better quality control and a reduction in process errors. The benefits were obvious – a low cost solution with a fail-safe product meaning that the company was more accurate and more efficient. All good for the bottom line!
Commenting on the solution, Mark stated
Selecting the correct thermochromatic ink was imperative, as the thermochromatic ink label must only change colour when the temperature at which sterilization is achieved has been assured. I had some fun locating the right product but we have a wealth of experience and contacts to make this kind of thing happen.
James McDonald the laboratory manager was extremely pleased with the results:
Mark’s involvement was fantastic. He quickly grasped the problem and gave us a solution that saves us time and money and at a very competitive price. We are happy to work with positive ID and their no-nonsense approach was very refreshing.
